Under the Hawaiian Sun
This photograph shows a Green Sea Turtle swimming under the sun off the south west coast of Maui, Hawaii. These sea turtles are protected by law in Hawaii and as a result their numbers thrive. This is a great example of what conservation efforts can achieve.
To get this shot Richard was snorkling and needed to dive down so the turtle swam above him. Pointing the camera upwards enabled a physical phenomenon caused by the refraction of light underwater to appear, called Snell's Window. Through this "window" the sky and sun can be seen. Richard was able to line up the sea turtle and the sun to create this image.
Available in a variety of sizes as a print on fine art paper, or wall art on canvas or metal. This print is a signed, limited edition, of only 25 prints.
